Frequently Asked Questions

Using it, mirror mode, phone setups, scroll speed, privacy, offline, fullscreen and shortcuts.

How do I use the online teleprompter?

Type or paste your script straight onto the prompter screen — there's no separate text box. Format any words you like (bold, italic, colour, highlight, size), set the speed and font size, then press Play. It jumps into fullscreen, counts down 3-2-1, and the text scrolls while you read to the camera. Press space to pause, the left/right arrows for speed, and the up/down arrows to scroll forward or back.

Can I edit and format the text right on the screen?

Yes — the teleprompter screen is fully editable. Click anywhere and type or paste, and select any words to make them bold or italic, change their text colour, add a highlight, or change their size from the formatting bar. You can also set a custom background and text colour for the whole prompter. Your script and styling auto-save in your browser.

Can I scroll backwards to re-read a line?

Yes. While reading, press the Down arrow (or the direction button) to reverse the scroll and go back up to a line you missed, then press the Up arrow to roll forward again. The speed stays the same — only the direction changes.

What is the mirror mode for?

Professional teleprompters reflect the script off a piece of angled glass in front of the camera lens, and that reflection is flipped left-to-right — so the text has to be mirrored to read correctly. Turn on Mirror (⇋) if you're using a teleprompter glass or beam-splitter rig. If you're just reading off your screen next to the camera, leave it off.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. It works on any phone, tablet or computer in the browser, and the controls are touch-friendly. A common setup is to prop your phone below or beside your camera, or use an inexpensive phone teleprompter with a glass and turn on mirror mode.

How fast should the teleprompter scroll?

It depends on your speaking pace — most people speak at roughly 120–150 words per minute. Start around the default speed, do a quick test read, and nudge it up or down with the arrow keys until the line you're reading sits comfortably at the guide markers. The live WPM readout helps you match a natural pace.

Is my script uploaded or saved anywhere?

Your script never leaves your device — everything runs in your browser. It's auto-saved locally so it's still there when you come back, and nothing is sent to a server or shared. There's no sign-up.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, the teleprompter keeps working without an internet connection, because all the scrolling and controls run on your device.

Can I read in fullscreen?

Yes — press the fullscreen button (or the F key) to fill the whole screen, which is ideal for recording. Press Esc or the ✕ to exit. There's also a reading guide and a progress bar so you always know where you are.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

While reading: Space plays/pauses, the Up arrow scrolls forward and the Down arrow scrolls backward, the Left/Right arrows slow down or speed up, R restarts from the top, M mirrors the text, and Esc exits fullscreen. The shortcuts only act while the prompter is rolling, so they never interfere with typing your script.
